EAS Welcomes New Managing Editor

""

The McNeil Center and Penn Press welcome Meg Toth as the new managing editor of Early American Studies: An Interdisciplinary Journal. Meg is former Professor of English and Director of Film Studies at Manhattan College. Her research interests include U.S. literature--particularly women writers-- mid-twentieth-century crime fiction, and film and adaptation studies. She has published widely on Edith Wharton and twice served on the executive board of the Edith Wharton Society. In 2020, she co-directed, with Dr. Margaret (Jay) Jessee, the international conference Edith Wharton's New York. She currently sits on the editorial board for Shirley Jackson Studies and serves as a standing consultant for Legacy: A Journal of American Women Writers. She is also working on a digital edition of the early short fiction of Elisabeth Sanxay Holding, a project supported by The Recovery Hub of American Women Writers.

We also bid a sad farewell to Laura Keenan Spero, who served in several editorial roles for Early American Studies, and wish her all the best. Thanks, Laura, and welcome Meg!
