Emma Chapman is a PhD candidate at the University of California, Davis. She studies gender, economy, and family structures in early New England and New France. She has worked on multiple public history projects with entities such as the National Park Service and the Marchand Institute of Public Engagement. She is currently working on research for her dissertation on the effects of absence on families and states in early North America.
